Senator Hillslegislator

Madam President, I'd like to request a moment of personal privilege.

Presiding Officer: (Senator Lightford)president

Please state your point, Senator.

Senator Hillslegislator

I rise today with a heavy heart to honor the life of Officer Christian "CP" Pascente of the Wauconda Police Department, who passed away on March 9th at just 31 years old. Officer Pascente grew up with a calling to serve others. After graduating from the Illinois State University with a degree in Criminal Justice, he fulfilled his dream in September of 2022 when he joined the Wauconda Police Department. Those who have served alongside him describe "CP" as someone who truly cared about the people around him. He was a dedicated officer, a trusted partner to his fellow officers, and someone who approached his work with compassion, integrity, and a genuine commitment to his community. His loss is deeply felt by the entire Wauconda community, by his colleagues in law enforcement, and most importantly, by his family and loved ones. Moments like this also remind us that those who dedicate their lives to protecting others often carry unseen burdens. Supporting the mental health and well-being of our law enforcement officers is incredibly important, and we must continue working to ensure they have the resources and the support that they need. Madam President, I ask the Senate to join me in a moment of silence to honor the life and the service of Officer Cristian Pascente.

Presiding Officer: (Senator Lightford)president

Thank you, Senator. Please rise for a moment of silence. (Moment of silence observed) Doris Turner, for what purpose do you rise?

Senator D. Turnerlegislator

I have an announcement.

Presiding Officer: (Senator Lightford)president

Please state your announcement, Senator.

Senator D. Turnerlegislator

Today, I rise to honor a very special person. We often overlook how much work goes into making this building, our Chamber and committees run efficiently. We see all of these people lining the walls of the Chamber and the walls of our committee rooms, quietly and diligently, making sure everything runs smoothly. Today, we are losing one of these people that quietly keeps us moving forward. Mikayla Bolton, who many of you have seen sitting in the back of Room 409, is leaving us on Friday. She isn't going far and is continuing to serve the people of Illinois in the Treasurer's Office. Please join me in expressing our sincere appreciation to Mikayla for her dedication, hard work, and many years of service to the Illinois General Assembly.

Presiding Officer: (Senator Lightford)president

Great work, Mikayla, and good luck in your endeavors. Ladies and Gentlemen of the Senate, we will now proceed to the Order of Consent Calendar celebration of life resolutions. With leave of the Body, all those resolutions read in today will be added to the Consent Calendar. Mr. Secretary, have there been any objections filed to any resolutions on the Consent Calendar?

Secretary Andersonsecretary

No objections filed, Madam President.

Presiding Officer: (Senator Lightford)president

Is there any discussion? If not, the question is, shall the resolutions on the Consent Calendar be adopted. All those in favor will say Aye. Opposed, Nay. The Ayes have it, the motion carries and the resolutions are adopted. There being no further business to come before the Senate pursuant to House Joint Resolution 57. The Senate stands adjourned until noon on the 24th day of March 2026, or to the call of the Senate President. The Senate stands adjourned.
