Thank you, Madam Speaker. Colleagues, listen up. Today, we want to recognize and thank the professional line workers who have joined us today on the House floor. Line workers protect public safety and maintain the electrical infrastructure that is critical to our daily lives and economy. Line workers are first responders and are the first line in wildfire defense. They work to get power back on and make things safe for all after storms and accidents, working in dangerous conditions at times far from their families, and at all hours to maintain our electric infrastructure day in and day out, especially in times of storms or natural disasters. As you all know, I live in Boulder. We had three straight days of power shutdowns and four nights, and we had the line workers in our neighborhood checking every single power pole, and I thanked them. Today, as I told my husband what I was doing, he said should they be at the Capitol? Don't we have a red flag day today? So let's thank them because many of them probably will be out today and tomorrow. Thank you so much.
Representative McCormick.
Thank you Madam Speaker. And just a special shout out to my city of Longmont power and communications folks. I know there's some in the gallery and there's some over here on the side for coming down from Longmont. We have a really special situation in the city of Longmont. Our city, our municipal power, we are really set up well to protect ourselves from wind events. So I want to just thank them for all the good work that they do and for showing up at the Capitol, all of you.
Great, thank you. Representative Johnson. And AML Winter.
Thank you, Madam Speaker. I know my handwriting is not that great. So today, April 23rd, we recognize Colorado Sportsman Day. The Colorado Sportsman Caucus is a subchapter of the Congressional Sportsman Caucus. This is a bunch of dedicated sportsmen and sportswomen who are hunters, anglers, conservationists of the land and wildlife. And they are proud to be here today. We do have some along the side of the wall, so please make sure you're talking with them. Ask what their passion is. And the best part of the day, I'll let AML say.
Assistant Minority Leader Winter.
Good morning everybody As you know the sportsmen always come and put on a good feed for all of us so please stop out and see them Sportsman Day is also important to this state It our western heritage and it the values and it was the mountain men that trekked the mountains of this state and I don't know if you've ever seen the movie Jeremiah Johnson, but if you haven't, you really need to watch it, and I appreciate what they do, and I think that anybody that loves the lands that our state takes care of and our state parks really owe a thank you to these people, because if it wasn't for the work that they do in the conservation space, making sure that the animals are taken care of, making sure that they have good habitats, these are the folks that do that. It's their money that does that with license and fees that they pay. And we owe them a debt of gratitude because Colorado wouldn't be as beautiful as it is today if it wasn't for them. And they continue a tradition that was a huge part of what this state's about, and hopefully they're able to continue that tradition for a long, long time. So if they would please stand and be recognized.
Thank you, members. Representative Goldstein.
Thank you, Madam Speaker. It's an honor to serve with you. It is an honor to serve with you. Today is another CEA Lobby Day. You're saying, oh, no, another one. Well, this one is a little bit special today because we have guests from the CEA Retired, which I am a member of, and we have other CA members, too, up in the balcony, so give them a wave and take some time today to hear their stories of what goes on in their classrooms and what they do every day for our children. So welcome and thank you.
Thank you, members. Representative Furey.
This is my first time doing an announcement, so that's cool. Yeah, normally I just hang out back there. But so today, I don't know if any of you have heard of this department called HICPUF, but their kids are here at the Capitol. Can you stand up? Where are the kids? Oh, there they are. Welcome. Your parents do really, really great work, and we're glad you're here seeing the work that we do as well. And give them a hug when you go home and say thank you for the work. Thank you.
I have an announcement. Representative Zocay will replace Representative Phillips on House education for today only. Majority Leader Duran will replace Representative Valdez on House energy and environment for today only.
